Blogging of a new pumpkin in Alameda, CA... This is the type "Jack O' Lantern", and there's also a smaller variety vine growing next to it. Planted this one from a seed on May 30th, 2011.

I am very impressed with your pumpkin. Tried to grow them when I lived in San Leandro, but no luck. Now I am in Clayton and have 4 female blossoms. Waiting for them to open so that I can pollinate them.

Thanks for the comment Sandi, it's nice to know someone is actually following this blog (so it's officially not a "diary")! That's good to have that many females, I only had about 2 at a time, but for some reason the rest are dying off (I think because all the energy is going into the pumpkin). Send me a picture when your pumpkin starts growing so I can post it! ;-)
